In the latest season of Diablo 4, players will embark on a journey to "Search for Silence and Follow." To enter the new season's map, you'll need special Nightmare Dungeon Keys called "Whispering Tombs." However, the effects of these four unique Warlock Scriptures might not be very noticeable until you've crafted Legendary Gems.
To farm the season's "Unceasing Axe" and Gem Fragments, the recommended location is the Haystacks in the Green Nest map. These Haystacks offer a substantial amount of Gems and Unceasing Axes.
Whether you should purchase the DLC depends on your gaming goals. The Runes in the DLC significantly enhance builds and are crucial for some core build constructions. If you aim to experience all builds and tackle high-tier content, purchasing the DLC is worthwhile. However, if your goal is to enjoy the game up to level 60 or 70 and consider the end-game to be around level 70, you can manage without the DLC.
Regarding the acquisition of Compasses and Gold-Forged Obelisks, the Compass drop rate has been reduced. The fastest way to obtain them is by completing the Ancient Book quest, which rewards you with a chest from the Ancient Tree that has a chance to contain Compass Keys. Additionally, these chests can sometimes spawn Legendary Chests (Large Dungeon Keys), which contain three Compass tickets. The primary source for Compasses is farming the large tree chests during Green Tide events. For Obelisks, the quickest method is to complete all four mercenary tasks, which will refresh the mercenary shop with Gold-Forged Chests containing Obelisks. There are varying opinions on the drop rates of Obelisks from the Grinding Wheel and Nightmare Dungeons, so you'll have to assess that for yourself. If you're farming Nightmare Dungeons for large amounts of Obelisk Stones, choose a class that excels at fast movement and has good area-of-effect skills, such as Barbarian's Whirlwind or Earthquake, Rogue, or Druid's Cataclysm.
To quickly obtain Legendary Runes, go to Kurast's Hidden City and farm the Rune Offerings. Keep in mind that the drop rate of Legendary Runes from bosses has been decreased.
As for the season's class rankings and recommendations, each player has their own opinion on class strength. For newcomers or those who have trouble choosing, the Necromancer's Shadow Blood Surge is recommended for its high damage and easy gameplay. Next is the Barbarian's Earthquake build, which deals slightly less damage than Blood Surge but is still effective for pushing high-tier content. The Druid's Cataclysm requires Rune and gear support, making it more challenging to start with. For speed-farming players, the Rogue is a good choice with its smooth gameplay, although its speed-farming potential is capped around Tier 90.
